Thank you to all who helped us challenge the stigma surrounding mental health
At this time, we are no longer offering workshops through our Mental Health Equality in the Workplace (MHEW) program. However, we remain extremely proud of the work that we have done through MHEW, and we encourage our community to continue to use the resources we have collected as part of this program.
We are eternally grateful to our community of Colorado businesses that recognized the importance of supporting mental health, awareness, acceptance, empowerment, prevention, and recovery for all employees.
Why should businesses care about mental health equality in the workplace?
Mental Health Impacts Everyone
• Each year 67% of employees feel burned out
• Each year up to %60 of employees will manage symptoms of a mental health condition
• Each year at least %20 or employees will manage a diagnosable mental health condition
• Up to 83% of people will manage a diagnosable mental health condition at some point in their lifetime
Stigma is Real
• Only 25% of employees feel comfortable talking to their manager or HR about mental health
• 80% of employees say that stigma keeps them from getting treatment
• 69% of employees strongly agree that it is safer to remain silent about workplace stress
Because it is good for business
• $1 Trillion is lost annually in the US from productivity loses related to depression and anxiety.
• Over 400 Million work days are lost in the US as the result of depression alone
• 34% of total employees, 50% of Millennials, and 75% OF Gen Z-ers have left a job for mental health reasons.
"The economic costs of mental health conditions will be more than cancer, diabetes, and respiratory ailments put together."
